TEENS to QUEENS provides teenage girls a modern rites experience dedicated to honouring their shift from girlhood to young woman, while identifying the great talents and gifts they are bringing to their community and the world. In collaboration with Future Dreamers , the program gives mothers the opportunity to learn more about the modern pressures facing their daughters and learn how best to support them, while also feeling supported themselves.

The TEENS to QUEENS rites of passage program will help deepen the bond between mother and daughter, giving them a solid base to empower them and to have an ongoing positive and open dialogue about some of the trickier issues in life.

The first TEENS to QUEENS program is being held from November 3rd – 5th, 2017. Presented as 3-day glamping experience at the beautiful and renown Coorabella property in the Byron Bay hinterland.

This program offers a vital foundation for future growth and resilience.

Key topics explored over the duration will include resilience, communication, body image, technology, social media, drugs/alcohol, sex/sexuality and more.

Over the course of three days, mothers and daughters will join an experienced team of women, trained by internationally renowned expert in adolescent development and Rites of Passage, Dr Arne Rubinstein, the founder of the Global Rites of Passage Leadership Training.

Coorabella is a luxury private residence with sweeping views of the natural landscape and stunning sunsets. The house sits on 60 acres filled with forests, natural waterfalls and river ways. The property is a favourite destination for creatives, designers, actors and musicians, and most recently hosted the wedding of  Margot Robbie.

    • What is a rite of passage? A rite of passage is an ancient ritual that marks and celebrates important transitional periods such as birth, puberty, marriage, parenthood, and death. These ceremonies feature activities and teachings that have been handed down from generation to generation, through the eons, and are intended to shepherd participants through a life transition and into a new role or status. Rites of Passage are community events that involve family, friends, wise elders or guardians, and loved ones.


    • What I will gain from coming? The opportunity to reset and connect more deeply with your teenage daughter, and gain a refreshed perspective on your relationship and how you relate to each other, and initiate changes together if you both desire. It is our intention that you will gain a deeper understanding of your daughters experience and who she is today, and that she will also gain more insight into your experience. You will have the opportunity to rest from day to day chores and responsibilities, disconnect from devices and social media, immerse yourself in nature and connect with other mothers and daughters. 


    • What is the right of age for my daughter to attend? 13yrs to 16yrs. However as each girls journey into puberty is different. She will be changing and not necessarily physically but menstruation is a fundamental sign. Your daughter may be getting moody or withdrawing and finding solace in her bedroom. Mothers know and you will know. If you are not sure please contact us and we will assist you personally and proceed on a case by case basis.  


    • Will my daughter and I be together the entire time? No. TEENS to QUEENS marks the beginning of the next stage of life for you both. The program structure is a curated experience so that you get time alone, time with other women, time with the whole group, your daughter and other girls who are not your daughter.


    • Where will the event take place? TEENS TO QUEENS will be taking place at Coorabella, a private estate in the Byron Bay Hinterland. The estate has rivers, swimming holes, forests, walking tracks, fields, fruit and vegetable gardens and swimming pool. The famous Coorabella house will be utilised for a welcome lunch. Coorabella is 15 minutes drive from Mullumbimby and 20 minutes from Byron proper.  


    • Where will be sleeping and showering? Each mother and daughter team will sleep in beautiful bell tents, on real beds with proper linen. Beds and linens provided. The venue will provide onsite hot shower and toilet facilities.


    • What should we bring? As we do spend time outdoors we encourage being prepared for all weather variables! November is generally a pleasant time of year approx. 28 degree C. However all participants should bring effective wet weather gear with them. Towels, headlamp or torch, refillable water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray will be included on our ‘ What to Bring List’. We do not cancel glamp-out due to of wet weather. 


    • How do I know it is safe for my daughter to attend? All TEENS TO QUEENS facilitators are women who have gone through formal training in GLOBAL RITES OF PASSAGE LEADERSHIP.Your daughters wellbeing and safety is paramount.We have strict Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, Child Protection policies and procedures, qualified First Aid Officers and evacuation procedures in place. TEENS TO QUEENS is part of the Rites Of The Sisterhood – a collective of trained and compatible woman whose focus and passion is Rites of Passage.


    • What do we eat? Guests are served 3 delicious and nutritious meals each day. If you have any special food requirements just let us know and our chef will make sure you have what you need. A wide range of dietary needs can be catered for with the aim of providing healthy and nutritious food. 


    • Is TEENS TO QUEENS religious? No TEENS TO QUEENS is not religious. We welcome and are inclusive of families from all faiths.
    • What if we are coming from Interstate? Coorabella is approximately 15 mins drive from Byron Bay and is located 45mins from the Gold Coast airport and 30 mins from Ballina airport. If possible fathers can fly up for the return celebration at the end and it is really special if you can arrange that. And fathers are welcomed to come from the beginning of the camp and spend the weekend in Byron Bay which is also another great option.


    • We have a blended family? Our bottom line is always what’s best for the girl. All significant parents, stepparents and/or carers should be aware of, and if possible involved in the program. It is common for both fathers and stepfathers to participate in the program to support their daughter at this important time. Please understand that as the Glamp-out fill to capacity we are unable to accept your registration and secure your place without payment of the camp fees.

For you to secure your place in the TEENS to QUEENS program a 50% Deposit is required. We do offer of payment plans for the balance.
